Why are there flotation devices under plane seats instead of parachutes?
Why is it when two planes almost hit each other it is called a "near miss"? Shouldn't it be called a "near hit"?
If airline seat cushions are such good floatation devices, why don't people take them to the beach?
On airplanes, do the pilot seats have the floatation cushion on them?
Can you really avoid injury in an airplane crash if you jump out when the plane is just a few feet from the ground?
Isn't an airplane landing just a controlled collision with Earth?
If the airplane you're on is going to crash, why do they try to stop you from passing out by giving you oxygen?
If the airplane is falling out of the sky at a 45 degree angle, the air is being sucked out of the plane, and your little oxygen mask falls down, will you be able to reach it if you've got your seat belt on?
When checking in for your flight, why do they ask if you've recently handled any explosives? Are they worried you might clap your hands and blow up during mid flight?
What if you made a bomb or a gun that didn't look like one? Would you be lying when the check-in agent asks you "Does your bag contain anything that looks like a bomb or a gun"? Has anyone ever been stupid enough to say "Yes" to that question?
If your airplane is falling out of the sky from 30,000 feet, why do you have to strap yourself in? Does the airline want to make sure that you get your money's worth of the crash experience? You're falling out of the sky at 600 mph, the guy next to you is freaking out, but you sit there sipping your coke, cool as ice, because you have your seat belt on.
What difference does it make whether you tell the check-in agent whether you're carrying a bomb or not? Surely it's not whether you're carrying a bomb that matters, but if you're planning on exploding it. Right?
Why do pilots need to be trained? After all, isn't it easy for anyone to land a plane, providing there is someone in the control tower to talk them down? This must be right because it happens in all the movies, doesn't it?
Do the oxygen masks on airplanes really provide any oxygen? Or are they just to muffle the screams?
During the video demonstration on many planes, they show the oxygen masks dropping, people looking serenely at them and then applying them in the prescribed manner. During an explosive decompression at altitude, wouldn't everything be flying around in the compartment, making the situation far less serene? And if it was you, wouldn't you be freaking out like everyone else?
How come when the stewardess on the airplane is going through all the safety stuff, the guy in the seat in front of you is always holding up his newspaper so you can't see?
On most airplanes they have 5 seats per row, 2 on one side and 3 on the other. Why did they design them this way? Wouldn't that make the plane lopsided? Wouldn't a 2x2 or a 3x3 design be more logical?
If the odds of being on a plane with a bomb are a million-to-one, and the odds of there being two bombs on board, two million-to-one, wouldn't you improve your chances for a safe flight if you brought a bomb with you?
When flying on an airplane and your pilot's name is Jack, can you say 'Hi' to him?
